The main role of a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) is to provide basic care to patients and assist them in daily activities that include bathing, dressing, feeding and taking vital signs. The role of a CNA is not glamorous but is extremely essential in long-term care. Compassionate individuals with a deep desire to care for others are needed to fill these positions.
A CNA must complete a state approved nurse aide training program, pass the nurse aide competency evaluation consisting of both a written and a skills test, and be listed in good standing as a CNA on the Pennsylvania Certified Nurse Aide Registry. The training program must be approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
A Restorative Aide certificate is required for Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs) to provide restorative care services, supporting residents in maintaining or improving their physical function, mobility, and overall independence under the guidance of nursing and therapy staff.
